Data Scientist (Computing and Processing)

California, USA

I'm a Data Scientist and Ph.D candidate in Systems Science at Binghamton University. I came from a liberal arts background, and switched to Systems Science when I discovered the concepts of Network Science and Evolutionary Algorithms. I was fascinated by a biologically-driven approach to computational problems, using methods like Genetic Algorithms (GAs) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for optimization and forecasting. I decided to pursue a PhD when I discovered Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM), a new generation of ANNs based on the Neocortex, which has been mostly applied to streaming anomaly detection across domains. In my current job I implement these theoretical methods using Python, in the pursuit of leaner manufacturing processes.
